Arsenal are apparently closing in on the signing of Victor Osimhen, with reports from Nigeria claiming that the club has agreed a £62 million fee to bring the striker to the Emirates this summer.
The Napoli forward currently on loan at Galatasaray, has been on the radar of multiple elite clubs, including Manchester United and Chelsea, but Mikel Arteta is believed to have identified the Nigerian as one of missing pieces in Arsenal’s attack.
With Arsenal’s current strikers all crocked, the club is expected to bring in more than one forward this summer.
The 26-year-old Nigerian international, who has been prolific in Turkey with 22 goals and five assists in 28 games, would be a transformational addition to Arteta’s set-up.
Despite the clear need for a centre-forward, Arsenal opted not to pursue Osimhen in January, even though his loan agreement with Galatasaray included a reported break clause.

The decision to wait for the summer suggests that Arsenal were confident of negotiating a fee within their structure rather than overpaying in the winter window.
With Napoli unlikely to retain Osimhen beyond this season and Arsenal’s willingness to meet the valuation, the club is apparently edging closer to securing one of Europe’s most lethal strikers. If they actually are, we will have to wait and see.
Osimhen scored 76 goals, with 12 assists, in 133 games for Napoli before falling out with management.
