The Joint Task Force ‘Operation HADIN KAI’ has rejected assertions made by remnants of Boko Haram and ISWAP that they still possess the ability to carry out attacks on military personnel and civilians.
In a statement released on Tuesday, signed by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer at the Joint Task Force Headquarters, the JTF addressed the dissemination of outdated images and media reports by terrorists aimed at misleading the public.
“The Joint Task Force ‘Operation HADIN KAI’ has noticed a renewed propaganda effort by remnants of Boko Haram and ISWAP, who are circulating old photographs and recycled media reports in a desperate bid to convince the public that they still have the capacity to cause chaos among troops and law-abiding citizens,” the statement read.
“One such recycled report is from July 9, 2020, which falsely reemerges with images of deceased soldiers, claiming it depicts an ambush on Nigerian troops.
“Our fact-checking indicates that this report was originally published a decade ago,” it continued.
The JTF cautioned that these materials do not accurately represent the current security situation.
“At no recent time has ‘Operation HADIN KAI’ lost 20 soldiers,” the statement stressed.
“The enhanced capabilities and well-coordinated air and ground operations against the terrorists are producing significant results that are unfavorable for them.”
Highlighting recent achievements, the statement noted: “In just the past week, troops have dealt significant blows to terrorist hideouts and supply networks on multiple fronts.”
In locations such as Miyanti, Gajigana, and Gajiram, insurgents attempting to regroup faced overwhelming engagement.

“Troops seized dangerous weapons and equipment, including anti-aircraft systems, rocket bombs, machine guns, and various rifles abandoned by fleeing insurgents,” it stated.
The statement also mentioned: “At the Chabbal checkpoint, alert troops intercepted logistical supplies and a cash amount of thirty-seven million naira intended to fund terrorist activities. This interception has significantly hindered their operational sustainability.”
In Komala, located in the Konduga Local Government Area, troops confronted insurgents along the Gidan Kaji route.
“Sixteen insurgents were neutralized, and twenty bicycles, weapons, and a stockpile of critical logistical items essential for the terrorists’ survival were recovered and destroyed,” the JTF reported.
