Troops of the 6 Brigade /Sector 3 of ‘Operation Whirl Stroke’ have killed two terrorists and dismantled bandits’ camps during clearance operations under ‘Operation Lafiyan Jamaa’ in Taraba State.
In a statement released on Tuesday in Jalingo, the brigade’s acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, Capt. Oni Olubodunde said the operations were conducted on April 14, 2025, following actionable intelligence on bandits movements between Mayokan and Bondogri villages in Bali Local Government Area of the state.
“During the operation, troops engaged suspected terrorists in a gun duel around Garbatau, Garin Hamidu, Bandaguri, and Mayokan communities.
“Two terrorists were neutralised, while several others fled with gunshot wounds,” the statement read.
Weapons and items recovered from the scene include one AK-47 rifle with a magazine, four rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, a single-barrelled Dane gun, 27 arrows, and six cutlasses.

In a separate operation on the same day, the brigade said troops conducted a clearance patrol, targeting suspected bandits’ hideouts near Yamiri Village in Sarkin Kudu Ward of Ibi Local Government Area.
The army said the criminals abandoned their camps and fled upon sighting the troops.

“Troops recovered a military woodland camouflage uniform and a Bible during the operation. The camp was subsequently destroyed to prevent its reuse,” Capt. Olubodunde added.
Commander of the 6 Brigade, Brig. Gen. Kingsley Uwa, commended the troops for their bravery and professionalism.
He assured residents of the state of the brigade’s continued commitment to securing lives and property across Taraba State.
Brig. Gen. Uwa called on the public to cooperate with security forces by providing credible and timely information.
“The 6 Brigade remains resolute in its mission to flush out all criminal elements from the state. We will not relent in our efforts to restore peace and ensure the safety of all law-abiding citizens,” Brig. Gen. Uwa said.
