Troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, under Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have destroyed a major bandits’ camp in Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State.
According to a statement released on Monday by the Acting Assistant Spokesperson of the Brigade, Lt. Umar Muhammad, the operation formed part of the ongoing Operation Lafiya Nakowaa renewed effort aimed at clearing out bandits and terrorist elements across the state.
The successful raid, conducted on Friday, October 31, 2025, followed credible intelligence reports indicating the presence of criminal hideouts around Unom, Yongogba, Tornyi, and Mbayongo villages.
Acting on the intelligence, troops launched a clearance patrol through several communities, including Tor-Tser, Kofar Ahmadu, and Sabon Gida Tati.
”During the mission, the soldiers received fresh information that bandits had been sighted near TY Farm in Tati. The troops swiftly advanced toward the area and engaged the criminals, who fled into the forest after facing superior firepower from the Nigerian Army,” the army said.
Further search operations, according to the statement, led to the discovery and destruction of a major bandits’ camp at TY Farm. A Dane gun and other items were recovered during the operation.
The Commander of the 6 Brigade, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops for their gallantry, professionalism, and rapid response.
He reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to restoring lasting peace and security in Taraba State and urged residents to continue providing credible information to aid ongoing military efforts.
