Tension has gripped Bomadi, headquarters of Bomadi Local Government Area of Delta State, following the abduction of an army officer, identified as Lt. Col. Josiah, by suspected kidnappers.
The officer was reportedly taken away in the early hours of Sunday from his lodge in Bomadi after attending a marriage ceremony in the nearby Kpakiama community.
According to eyewitness accounts, the gunmen stormed the lodge between 2:00 a.m. and 2:30 a.m., firing sporadic shots to scare occupants before combing through rooms.
Phones belonging to lodgers were seized, while the officer was dragged out and forced into a waiting vehicle.
“They fired shots, collected people’s phones, and whisked the officer away. Bloodstains were seen on the ground after they left,” a source who pleaded anonymity told reporters.

The following morning, the abandoned vehicle used in the operation was discovered in the Tuomo community along the Tuomo–Ogbobagbene–Tamigbe–Torugbene–Ojobo Road.
Security operatives reportedly recovered it and brought it to the Joint Task Force (JTF) base at Bomadi-Overside.
The incident has sparked fear across Bomadi and adjoining towns, as residents worry about potential reprisal actions by soldiers in response to the abduction.
Troops attached to the Bomadi Division of the JTF have since intensified patrols in the area.
