The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, has highlighted the pivotal role of Warrant Officers in bridging the leadership gap between commissioned officers and enlisted ranks. His message came during the graduation ceremony of Course 44 at the Warrant Officers’ Academy in Jaji, Kaduna State.

Represented by Maj.-Gen. Oluyemi Olatoye, the COAS commended the 79 graduates for successfully completing the 22-week intensive training program designed to hone their leadership and managerial skills. He emphasized the academy’s significance in preparing Warrant Officers and Senior Non-Commissioned Officers (SNCOS) to take on vital roles in the Nigerian Army’s chain of command.

Lt.-Gen. Oluyede highlighted the strategic importance of the academy in addressing junior leadership challenges, especially in light of Nigeria’s complex security landscape. He stated that Warrant Officers and SNCOS are critical to decision-making processes within units and formations, calling on the graduates to apply their newly acquired skills to strengthen the operational efficiency of the Nigerian Army.

The COAS also praised the academy’s international collaboration, which included participants from Liberia and The Gambia. He noted that such initiatives foster inter-service cooperation and enhance diplomatic relations.

In his address, Oluyede expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his unwavering support of the Nigerian Army, describing it as a morale booster for repositioning the military for optimal service delivery.

Brig.-Gen. Auwal Mahmuda, Commandant of the Academy, reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to continually upgrading its training curriculum to address evolving security challenges in Nigeria. He encouraged the graduates to further develop their leadership capabilities and leverage the knowledge gained during their training for the benefit of the Armed Forces.
