The acting Chief of Army Staff, Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, has advised regimental sergeant majors of the army, navy, air force, and the police to reduce inter-agency rivalry.
This is contained in a statement by the Director, Army Public Relations, Man. Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, in Abuja.
Gen. Oluyede issued the charge during the 2nd RSM convention with the theme: “Fostering improved discipline and regimentation in the Nigerian Army for enhanced capacity to accomplish constitutional responsibilities within a joint environment” held in Lagos.
He reminded the regimental sergeant majors of the importance of discipline and regimentation, which are necessary characteristics for promoting inter-agency collaboration among the armed forces, police, and other security and intelligence organisations.

The acting chief of army staff asked the regimental sergeant majors to strengthen personnel discipline as soon as possible in order to ensure improved inter-agency coordination and a unified and powerful front to address the country’s security issues.
“All hands must be on deck in the fight against terrorism, insurgency, and other sundry crimes in troubled parts of the country. You must develop and exhibiting positive attitude to foster seamless joint operations to restore peace and tranquility in the country,” he said.
