The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Waidi Shaibu, had reiterated the army’s dedication to enhancing security operations in Niger State by increasing troop deployments, utilizing advanced technology, and fostering closer partnerships with traditional institutions and relevant stakeholders.

During a courtesy visit to the Etsu Nupe and Chairman of the Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, Yahaya Abubakar, at his palace in Bida, Lt. Gen. Shaibu, stated that the purpose of the visit is to assess ongoing military deployments in the state, identify operational deficiencies, and pinpoint areas that require additional troops and resources to effectively tackle emerging security issues.
He emphasized the significance of intelligence-driven operations, particularly those based in the community and human intelligence, noting that traditional rulers play a vital role in providing timely and actionable information to support military initiatives.

He commended the Etsu Nupe for his unwavering support for the troops and military personnel in the region, describing traditional institutions as essential allies in the fight against insecurity.
Responding, the Etsu Nupe assured the continued support of traditional rulers for the army and other security agencies, promising ongoing community cooperation, intelligence sharing, and prayers for operational success.
He also praised the professionalism and conduct of the soldiers operating within the Nupe Kingdom, highlighting their positive interactions with local communities and their contributions to peace and stability.
