The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, has extended heartfelt Eid-el-Fitr greetings to all Nigerian Army personnel, their families, and colleagues in the security sector, urging renewed commitment to duty, professionalism, and national unity.
In his message marking the end of Ramadan, Shaibu congratulated Muslim troops for completing the holy month of fasting and reflection, describing the period as one of sacrifice, moral renewal, and spiritual growth. He noted that the 2026 Ramadan coincided with the Christian season of Lent, highlighting the rare alignment of religious observances and the shared values of self-discipline, compassion, and humility within the army.
“The essence of both observances mirrors the core values of military service,” Shaibu said, emphasizing that mutual respect and recognition of diversity strengthen cohesion, teamwork, and operational efficiency across the force.
Paying tribute to fallen heroes, he lauded their ultimate sacrifice as a source of inspiration for serving personnel. He also commended deployed troops for maintaining professionalism under challenging conditions, while acknowledging those celebrating Eid with their families. “We pray for their safety, strength, and successful return,” he added.
Shaibu reaffirmed his commitment to troop welfare, noting that improving living conditions, fostering professional development, and supporting families remain top priorities. He stressed that the effectiveness of any military force depends not only on equipment but also on the morale, well-being, and dedication of its personnel.

He also expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his continued support of the Armed Forces, acknowledging the president’s leadership as a motivating factor for troops across all theatres of operation.
