The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Waidi Shaibu, has praised the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA) for its vital role in strengthening the families of military personnel and boosting the morale of troops nationwide.
Shaibu expressed his appreciation during a courtesy visit from NAOWA President, Mrs. Safiyya Shaibu, and members of the association’s executive at the army headquarters in Abuja.
This information was shared in a statement by the acting Director of Army Public Relations, Lt. Gen. Appolonia Anele, on Wednesday in Abuja.
He highlighted that NAOWA’s efforts in areas such as education, healthcare, entrepreneurship, and community development have been instrumental in supporting the families of military personnel, allowing officers and soldiers to perform their duties with focus and emotional stability.
The army chief emphasized the importance of ongoing skills development, digital literacy, and awareness of misinformation for military families, recognizing the increasing significance of technology in national progress.

He encouraged the association to continue its support for the army high command and NAOWA hospital and to extend similar initiatives to the Nigerian Army Soldiers’ Wives Association (NASWA).
Earlier, NAOWA President, Safiyya, congratulated Shaibu on his new role and shared the association’s vision to create a united and innovative organization that fosters self-reliance and sustainable livelihoods for military families.
She outlined key priorities, including empowerment, education, healthcare, and welfare, focusing on entrepreneurship, digital skills, and financial sustainability.
Additionally, she announced plans to establish a NAOWA innovation hub and to revitalize NAOWA projects across army formations.
