The army has opened applications for the direct short service commission course for 2026.
This announcement was made through a statement posted on the army’s official X platform.
The programme is available to both civilians and active military personnel who possess the necessary professional qualifications.
Successful candidates will be commissioned as officers in specialized branches of the army to aid in national defense and security efforts.
The branches available include the Nigerian Army Engineers, Nigerian Army Signals, Nigerian Army Medical Corps, Nigerian Army Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, and the Nigerian Army Education Corps.
The army has indicated that applications are free and must be submitted online. The application portal will be accessible from January 7 to February 4, 2026.

The statement advised that interested individuals should apply early and ensure that all required information is accurately provided.
Furthermore, applicants were asked to reach out to the army’s recruitment helplines at 08179269294 or 08109959294, available daily from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm.
“Additional details and application instructions can be found on the official recruitment website,” the statement added.
The army urged qualified Nigerians with the necessary skills and professional experience to seize the opportunity to serve the country.
