The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Youth Leader, Dayo Israel, says the death in an auto crash of the athletes and officials of Kano State returning home from the recently concluded National Sports Festival (NSF) in Ogun State, is “deeply unsettling and distressing.”
In a statement issued on Tuesday in Lagos, Israel, who also holds the position of chairman of the board of Hospital Management at the Federal Medical Centre in Abeokuta, extended his condolences to the Kano State Government, the NSF, and the families affected by the tragedy.
He stated that the tragic event has overshadowed what was otherwise a well-organized sports festival, which had attracted the interest of global sports organizations toward Ogun and Nigeria.
Israel expressed his sorrow, stating that “it is heartbreaking to hear of such sudden fatalities less than two days after the competition concluded.
“We, as human beings, are profoundly affected by this unfortunate narrative, but the Almighty has already determined our paths, and our fate remains hidden from our view.

“This is indeed a devastating loss for Kano State, as well as for the National Sport Commission, the athletics community, and particularly for the friends and families of those directly impacted by this tragic event.”
The APC youth leader also offered prayers for the swift recovery of those currently receiving medical attention in hospitals.
He praised the local youth in the area where the accident occurred for their quick provision of first aid to the injured individuals and their efforts to transport them to the nearest medical facility.
He further stated that “as the youth wing leader of the ruling political party in Nigeria, I recognize the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety and welfare of the youth.
“My hope is that such a tragic occurrence will never take place again. May Allah provide the families and loved ones of the deceased the strength to cope with this irreplaceable loss.”
