The Taraba State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) continues to attract prominent figures from the opposition parties, with the All Progressives Congress (APC) facing a growing wave of defections.
In the latest development, the APC ward Chairman of Bilga Ward in Ibi Local Government Area, Yusuf Yuuf, has officially resigned his position and joined the ADC.
Yuuf, a founding member of the APC in the state, submitted his resignation letter on Monday, citing a widening gap between his personal convictions, the party’s current direction, and the expectations of his constituents.
“I was one of the founding members of the All Progressives Congress and have served diligently as a ward chairman.
“However, I have come to terms with a difficult truth; there is a growing disconnect between my convictions, the realities I observe, and the actual needs of the people I represent,” Yuuf stated.

He described the decision as one made after “deep thought and careful reflection,” thanking the APC for the opportunity to serve and expressing appreciation to those who supported him throughout his political journey.
A copy of the resignation letter has been submitted to the APC zonal chairman for Taraba South.
Yuuf’s defection comes just weeks after a former member of the House of Representatives for Ibi/Wukari Federal Constituency, Rep. Danjuma Shiddi, also dumped the APC for the ADC, further strengthening the latter’s political base in Southern Taraba.
Political observers warn that the continued exit of influential grassroots leaders could significantly weaken the APC’s structure in the state ahead of upcoming elections, while giving the ADC a growing advantage in local and state-level politics.
