The All Progressives Congress Ward 11 in Ethiope East Local Government Area has moved to consolidate its base as party leaders, executives, and stakeholders converged in Isiokolo for a widely attended general meeting seen as a turning point for unity and grassroots mobilisation ahead of future elections.

The meeting, held on Tuesday at the Isiokolo residence of APC chieftain High Chief Brodericks Arigbodi, brought together the full Ward 11 executive committee alongside key party figures in an atmosphere defined by reconciliation, renewed loyalty, and a shared resolve to strengthen the party’s structure at the ward level.

Opening the session, Ward Chairman Chief Roji Lawrence described the gathering as a milestone, noting that it was the first major meeting since the defection of former Peoples Democratic Party members into the APC. He said the large turnout reflected a new spirit within the ward and signalled the end of internal divisions.

Chief Lawrence told members that Ward 11 had emerged stronger and more united, stressing that the party was now positioned to deliver solid electoral results if the current level of cooperation was sustained.

In his remarks, host and APC leader High Chief Brodericks Arigbodi praised party members for their commitment and loyalty, recalling that similar unity in the past had enabled the ward to produce its first Honourable Commissioner. He urged members to intensify grassroots engagement and mobilisation, saying strong performance at the polls would attract greater political attention and development to the area.

Addressing the meeting on behalf of the Delta State Government, the Commissioner for Higher Education, Professor Nyerhovwo Tonukari, briefed members on outcomes of a high-level APC stakeholders’ meeting held in Asaba. He conveyed the directive of the state leadership for aggressive mobilisation in support of the ongoing APC membership e-registration exercise across all wards.

Professor Tonukari also called on residents of Ward 11 to take advantage of the Independent National Electoral Commission Continuous Voter Registration, urging first-time voters, those with missing permanent voter cards, and individuals seeking to transfer their polling units to visit the INEC office in Isiokolo without delay.

Reaffirming the message of reconciliation, Hon. Okakuro Oghorodi Ejuvwekpokpo said all outstanding issues within the ward had been resolved. He noted that Senator Ovie Omo-Agege and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori were working in harmony, with the governor recognised as the leader of the APC in Delta State.

The interactive session also highlighted grassroots concerns, particularly graduate unemployment within the ward. While some unit representatives appealed for employment opportunities through the Commissioner’s office, Professor Tonukari said the state government had already absorbed many youths into various institutions and programmes. He assured members that more opportunities would emerge and appealed for patience.

The meeting ended on a cordial note with a vote of thanks by Barrister Henry Sohwo, who commended High Chief Arigbodi for his hospitality and sustained leadership within the party.

Several party leaders and stakeholders attended the meeting, underscoring its importance in the APC’s ongoing efforts to strengthen unity and readiness at the grassroots level in Ethiope East and across Delta State.
