The All Progressives Congress (APC) Unity and Reconciliation Forum has commended Governor Agbu Kefas for his decision to join the ruling party, describing the move as courageous, patriotic, and transformative for the state’s political landscape.
Speaking at a press conference on Sunday in Jalingo, the forum’s Chairman, Linus Ibrahim, along with the Secretary, Sami Tulu, and Vice Chairman, Yinusa Jibo, said the governor’s decision to defect marks a “defining moment” for the state’s politics.
According to a statement issued after the briefing, the forum expressed joy over Gov. Kefas’ decision, noting that it demonstrates “sound political judgment and a genuine commitment to unity, development, and progress.”

The group stated that the governor’s move to the APC would “energize the party’s structures, foster reconciliation among stakeholders, and open a new chapter of unity and purposeful governance.”
Commending Gov. Kefas for prioritizing the state’s interests over personal or partisan considerations, the forum said his defection would strengthen the APC’s presence across the 16 local government areas, rebuild confidence among members, and attract new supporters to the party.
The forum also lauded the APC leadership at the national, zonal, and state levels for their maturity and inclusiveness in welcoming new members, saying such openness would help drive victory and good governance.
Reaffirming its loyalty to the party, the forum pledged to collaborate with all stakeholders to ensure peace, unity, and reconciliation remain central to the APC’s collective success.
“We congratulate His Excellency once again and assure him of our unwavering support and partnership as he continues to deliver good governance and democratic dividends to our people under the banner of the All Progressives Congress,” the statement concluded.
