He said that his decision to contest for the senatorial seat was as a result of pressure from the party’s stalwarts and the cooperation demonstrated by Delta South officials of APC.

His words: “I am here today to present myself to the Delta South Senatorial District executives by the mandate of our leader, DSP Ovie Omo-Agege, that I should contest for the Delta South Senatorial District seat come 2023 General Elections.

“I have also accepted his order to contest for the Senate seat to represent the good people of Delta South Senatorial because I also believe that we must join hands together to win all the elections in Delta State come 2023.

“When we work together as a group and win election at all levels the benefit will be more for us. And we are ready and prepared to win election in Delta State than before.

“I want to say that all of you in Delta South Senatorial District are gate keepers. Please, support us in whatever way you can so that we can win the elections. We are closer to victory than ever.

“All Progressive Congress in Delta State is more united than ever. There should be no doubt in your mind, from what we have been able to do in the party in the last few weeks. You will see that we did not allow people who will destroy us to contest positions in the party.

“We have placed people who will contest and win because they are hungry to win and have the resources to make it happen. So, as gate keepers I want to beg you that there are no more divisions in the party. Let us work together and win.”

Responding, Delta South Senatorial District Chairman, Mr. Austin Oribioye, said that his executives and all the party faithful are ready to work to ensure that APC takes over the state.

According to him, “Hon. Joel-Onowakpo is well exposed and has the capacity to deliver and give the people of Delta South Senatorial District an effective representation come 2023. I will urge you to work diligently with the electorate and the APC faithful in order for our party to come out victorious in the forthcoming elections.”

Isoko South Local Government APC Chairman, Mr. Vincent Egbogbo, assured Hon. Thomas and members of his team that they are ready to campaign to all nooks and crannies to ensure that the party wins all elective positions in Delta State and at the federal level.
