To douse the tension created by news of the Rumors purported endorsement of a senator for All Progressives Congress (APC) national chairman position, the Senate Caucus of the party said it did not endorse anyone.
Three APC senators, Adamu Abdullahi, Sani Musa, and Tanko Al-Makura, are among the seven contestants to test their popularity at the party’s national convention slated for Saturday, March 26. Rumors went around that the party senators might have settled for Abdullahi Adamu.
Reacting to the Senate spokesperson, Dr. Ajibola Basiru denied what he described as unfounded rumor and insisted that APC senators want the national chairman and others to emerge through a transparent election on Saturday, The Trumpet gathered.
He said: “I am not aware that the APC senate caucus has adopted any senator for the position of the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress. “I know that three senators are contesting and there was no where or occasion when we took any decision to adopt any particular candidate. “We would be very happy if any of them emerge as the APC national chairman on Saturday.

“The emergence of any of the three senators would be a good omen to our institution. “At the moment the APC senate caucus hasn’t endorsed any of them or agreed to pick any of them as the consensus candidate.
“Senators Adamu Abdullahi, Sani Musa and Tanko Al-Makura are in the race.” A newspaper report had it that the Senate Caucus had endorsed the former governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Adamu The report claimed that the leadership of the 9th Senate led by the Senate Leader, Senator Abdullahi Yahaya, made the declaration last Thursday during the launching of Adamu’s campaign headquarters in Abuja which they attended.
Those also in attendance at the launching included Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo Agege and Chief Whip Orji Uzor Kalu as well as Senators Ali Ndume, Adamu Aliero and Barau Jibrin.
