The Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has applauded the appointment of former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as the South-South zonal coordinator of the Renewed Hope Initiative, describing it as a strategic move by President Bola Tinubu to deepen national cohesion and strengthen developmental structures in the region.
In a statement issued by the state Chairman of the party, Omeni Sobotie, the APC said Okowa’s selection was a “clear and deliberate endorsement” of his long-standing contributions to governance and nation-building.

The statement added that the former governor’s appointment is rooted in his years of experience in public administration, from his time as a commissioner and senator to his eight-year tenure as governor of Delta State.
The party added that Okowa’s broad understanding of South-South dynamics, coupled with his reputation for inclusive leadership, makes him well-positioned to oversee the implementation of the RHI agenda in the zone.
It stressed that the Renewed Hope Initiative is designed to support Tinubu’s economic and social reform programmes and requires leaders with credibility and grassroots acceptance.
He expressed confidence that Okowa’s involvement will strengthen political engagement, enhance regional coordination, and drive development-focused mobilization across the six states of the geopolitical zone.
