The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State has hailed Governor Francis Nwifuru, for increasing the monthly allowances for medical doctors working in general hospitals across the state.
This is contained in a statement issued by the state APC Publicity Secretary, Ogbuatu Simbad, and made available to journalists in Abakaliki.
It would be recalled that Gov. Nwifuru, recently approved an upward review of the allowances for doctors from N150,000 to N500,000.
In the statement, the APC state Chairman, Chief Stanley Emegha, described Gov. Nwifuru as a health-friendly leader with a heart for service, adding that this move is more than just financial, but a clear message that those who care for others deserve care and recognition in return.
“This is not just about allowances. It is about dignity, motivation, functionality, and sustainability,” the party noted.
“Governor Nwifuru has shown that adequate compensation for medical professionals is not a luxury, but a necessity for building a functional and responsive healthcare system that will reduce the mortality rate in our rural areas.”

The state APC affirmed that Gov. Nwifuru’s administration is the reason many are joining the party on a daily basis.
“His policies are people-centered, and his leadership continues to attract support across the state.

The APC commended the governor for recognising that fair pay for health workers is not a gift, but a right.
“Doctors and health workers are the backbone of our health system. We cannot expect excellence from them if we do not reward them accordingly.
“Governor Nwifuru understands this well, and we as a party are proud of his actions,” the statement concluded.
