A political group under the umbrella body of APC patriotic volunteers, has scored the Kano state government under the New Nigeria Progressive Party(NNPP) very low in terms of performance in the last two years.

The National president of the group, Alhaji Usman Alhaji, gave the rating while briefing newsmen on Wednesday, at the NUJ secretariat in Kano.

According to him, despite the billions accrued from FAAC, IGR and other sources, there is no insignificant development compared to the billions the government is collecting.

“The idea of fuel subsidy withdrawal at the onset of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration is meant to purposely increase government funding for impactful democratic dividends which became a dashed hope in Kano State.

“This is caused by petty sentiment, lack of clear cut policy direction, formulation and implementation, and lack of competent people to manage the affairs and running of the government which contributed to clear failure,” he said.

The group explained that despite the 31 percent budgetary allocation on the education sector, many schools across all levels especially in rural areas remain in shambles, classes over blown, teachers overworked, teaching and learning equipment under-provided.

They also alleged that the Power project at Tiga completed by the Ganduje administration meant to revive the economy and boost the water scheme in the state was diverted by the NNPP led government to power the Kwassiya estate and benefits only few individuals without considering the larger populace in the state.

“The same poor performance is recorded with respect to water supply in the state particularly in the metropolitan Local Government Areas, residents all over spend sleepless nights to look for water or buy from vendors exorbitantly adding more hardship to an already overstretched populace”.

They accused the state governor of destroying billions Naira worth of properties belonging to its citizens on assumption to power, an action that led to loss of lives which they described as irresponsible of one elected by his people.

The group also said the governor is found wanting in areas of litigation, citing several examples of his refusal to obey court orders and also his failure to make public various reports of committees set up by him to inquire on different issues in the state.

While noting that the group was not out to attack the government of the day, the president said, the group is aimed at promoting good governance, rule of law, accountability and patriotism.

He added that they are committed to expanding its membership to 200,000 by the end of 2025 and 600,000 by 2026.
