Leadership crisis rocking the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) took a new dimension Monday as the Governor of Niger State, Abubakar Sani Bello arrived the Buhari House, national secretariat of the party to take over as the sole administrator.
With this new development, the Mai Mala Buni – led Caretaker and Extra – Ordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) tenure may have been terminated.
When the rumoured sacking of the Buni – led CECPC broke early this morning, the Secretary to the Committee, Sen. John Akpanudoedehe denied it.

The scribe said there was no change in the party leadership and the Buni- led team remain at the party leadership.
Though, activities around the Blantyre Street, earlier in the day suggested an event was about unfolding as more than ten police vans with armed men took strategic positions around adjoining streets.
However, the Niger governor, Sani Bello, it was reported drove into the party secretariat around 12 noon and packed his car at the space allotted to the National Chairman.
Unconfirmed report had it that President Muhammadu Buhari while jetting out of the country approved the appointment of Gov Bello as Sole Administrator of the party in interim capacity.
Buni has been in the eye of the storm as various stakeholders have calling for his sack for obviously frustrating plans to hold the party’s National Convention.
The CECPC came into office in June 2020 after the suspension of former national chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.
Though the Caretaker Committee was given just six month to restore sanity and conduct national convention but it has been dilly dallying, thereby creating unnecessary tension in the party
This new development, The Trumpet learnt may once again affect the March 26 date fixed for the convention as there is no preparation on ground indicating implementation of the timetable and schedule of activities rolled out by the Committee.
