The All Progressives Congress has announced the defection of Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, from the Peoples Democratic Party.
The announcement was made on Thursday by the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yelwata, during the party’s 14th National Caucus meeting held at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja.
Yelwata, who hails from Plateau State, said Mutfwang’s decision to join the ruling party further strengthens the APC’s political dominance in the North-Central geopolitical zone.
“With the defection of Governor Caleb Mutfwang, the entire North Central is now governed by the APC,” the party chairman declared.
The governor’s defection comes amid a wave of high-profile defections to the ruling party, as politicians across the country continue to realign ahead of future electoral contests.

Although the Plateau State Government and the PDP are yet to issue official statements on the development as of the time of filing this report, the move marks a major political shift in the state, which has been governed by the PDP since 2019.
More details are expected as reactions continue to trail the development.
