Political fireworks are already heating up in Taraba South as top chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have declared unwavering support for incumbent Senator David Jimkuta, shutting down any moves to unseat him in the 2027 elections.
The show of force took center stage at a high-profile empowerment program in Wukari Local Government Area, where APC leaders from all five LGAs in the senatorial district warned political rivals to abandon their ambitions. They insisted that Jimkuta’s impact and service to his people have already cemented his place in the hearts of voters.
Jimkuta, who chairs the Senate Committee on FCT Area Council and Ancillary Matters, is not just riding on goodwill—he is backing his re-election bid with action. At the event, he distributed empowerment materials worth over N2 billion, reaching beneficiaries across party lines. The move has further solidified his influence in the district.
APC heavyweight and former Social Democratic Party (SDP) governorship candidate, Chief David Sabo Kente, dismissed the rising opposition as nothing but a futile conspiracy. He assured Jimkuta of overwhelming support, stressing that Southern Taraba voters will prioritize performance over party politics.

Former House of Representatives member Jerry Mawe echoed the sentiment, urging those eyeing the senatorial seat to shift their focus to other positions. According to him, Jimkuta’s leadership is already proving too formidable to challenge.
Other APC leaders at the event reinforced their belief that Jimkuta’s track record and massive empowerment programs will be the game-changer in the next election.
In his speech, Senator Jimkuta reaffirmed his dedication to reducing economic hardship in Taraba State. He expressed gratitude to his supporters and assured them that his work was far from over.
He also praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership, urging all Nigerians to rally behind the administration’s vision for a prosperous and united country.
