Nigeria’s Elizabeth Anyanacho has won a bronze medal in the women’s under 70kg taekwondo event at the Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh.
She began strongly with a 2–0 win over Iainne Taju in the quarterfinals.
Anyanacho, who is Africa’s number one and recently ended Nigeria’s 20-year medal drought in the -67kg category, pushed hard for a place in the final.
Her run was stopped in the semifinals after a close 2–1 loss to Iran’s Yalda Valinejad.

Nigeria now sits seventh on the medals table with 15 medals — six gold, five silver and four bronze — boosted mostly by weightlifting.
With athletics, wrestling, and para sports starting this week, officials expect more medals as the Games continue.
