Few hours to the conduct of the gubernatorial primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State, one of the top contenders for the ticket of the party and former National Auditor of the party, Paul Chukwuma has resigned his membership of the party.
Chukwuma also announced his withdrawal from the APC primary election, but noted that his support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration and the Renewed Hope agenda of the president remain intact.
Since the conduct of the APC ward congress that ended in controversy, the party has been neck deep in crisis as aspirants and members of the party have continued to accuse the leadership of the party in the state of favouring a new entrant into the party.
They also alleged that the delegate list for the primary election has been doctored in favour of the same aspirant.

In a letter to the ward chairman of Umuleri Ward 2, titled: “Resignation of party membership,” Chukwuma said “I write to formerly notify you of my resignation as a card carrying member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“My decision finds expression in my quest to connect Anambra State to national politics by building a broader and all encompassing political movement within Anambra State in support of President Bola Tinubu Renewed Hope agenda
“While thanking you for your leadership over these years, be rest assured of my continuous support to our shared progressive ideas, as I will devote more time to pursuing the realization of a safe and prosperous Anambra State of our dream ”
Chukwuma did not say that he is no more in the race for the November 8, 2025, gubernatorial election in Anambra State and he also failed to state if he would be joining another party for the said election.
“Let me rest for now and appraise what I have done so far before taking a stand” he noted.
