The Alaafin of Oyo HRM Oba Lamidi Adeyemi has been buried in the ancient city of Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.
HRM Oba Lamidi Adeyemi who died at the age of 83 years, on Friday, 22nd April, 2022, at 5.515 p.m. at the Afe Babalola Teaching Hospital in Ado-Ekiti, Ondo State, according to very reliable sources, has been sick for some time, but refused to be put down by the illness, that was why he was managing to put up public appearances in some selected events in and out of Ibadan.
The source further explained, that the remains of the late Alafin of Oyo, was flown into Ibadan the Oyo State capital early Saturday morning. The Trumpet Gathered
He said, the necessary burial rites for the late Monarch will commence any moment, after the interment of the late Oba according to Muslim rites.

He explained further, “the late Monarch being a Muslim needed to be buried this Saturday afternoon, in a very closely guided ceremony, which will not be open to the public. He said, his burial can only be done, after the all Powerful group known as ‘Oyo Mesi” led by an Ibadan Chief, who is the Bashorun of Oyo, Yusuf Akinade have met with all other relevant groups and harmonized every arrangements for the late Monarch passage.
Our source further explained, that the present confusion over the late Monarch passage, is as a result of the fact that the death was not supposed to be made a press affairs, as it is now the case. He said Yoruba customs and tradition does not permit the passage of a 1st Class Oba to be announced in the way and manner the press is presently making a feast out of the late Alaafin’s death.
In the past five months, three 1st Class Obas have died in Oyo State. First to join his ancestors, was the Soun of Ogbomoso Oba Jimoh Oladunni Oyewumi who was 95 years old, he died on Sunday, 12th December 2021. Followed by the Olubadan of Ibadan Oba Saliu Adetunji who died on the 2nd of January, 2022 at the ripe age of 93 years.
The late Alaafin Adeyemi, was from the Alowolodu Ruling House and he was longest ruling Alaafin of Oyo who reigned for 52 years.
As at the time of this report, the Oyo State Governor Engineer Seyi Makinde or his government, is yet to make an official announcement of the Monarch passage.
