Al Ahly of Egypt will play Wydad AC in the final of the 2022 CAF Champions League after they defeated ES Estif of Algeria 6-2 on aggregate.

The Red Devils of Egypt in the first leg of the semifinals hammered ES Estif four unreplied goals in Cairo and went on to defend their lead with a 2-2 draw in Stade du 5 Juillet, Algeria.

With a 2-minute goal from Ahmed Kader and a 92ndminute goal from substitute Mohamed Sherif, Al Ahly cancelled ES Estif’s double by Ahmed Kendouci and Riad Benayad to ensure they head to the final unscathed.

Also, Wydad AC of Morocco are through to the final to book a cracking showdown with Egypt’s Al Ahly after they edged out Angola’s Petro de Luanda in a 4-2 aggregate.

Wydad AC had deskinned the Petro de Luanda 3-1 amid their home supporters in the first leg of the semifinals clash of CAF Champions League at the 11 de Novembro Stadium, Angola and went on to play a oneall draw at Mohammed V Stadium, Morocco.

A 28th-minute canceller from Wydad AC midfielder, Yahya Jabrane, was enough to send the Moroccan club to book a second CAF Champions League final clash in five years with Al Ahly.

Meanwhile, the Al Ahly await the decision of the Court of Arbitration of Sports (CAS) over the CAF’s decision granting Morocco the hosting rights for the grand finale of the CAF Champions League.

A statement issued by the Egyptian club after the appeal to CAF was not granted, noted that they have decided to seek a redress, backed up by documents, from CAS and appealed to CAF not to disrupt the judgement.

CAF, defending its decision, noted that Royal Morocco Football Federation was given the right to host the 2022 CAF Champions League finals after their contender, the Senegalese Football Federation, withdrew its bid.
