Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN) has distributed 18 Units of JMC Pick Up utility vehicles to the 18 local government Chairmen for official purposes.
Akeredolu also handed over three Pick Up vehicles to the State Security Network known as Amotekun as part of his administration’s efforts to boost security operations in the state.
While handing over the vehicles to the council chairmen on Wednesday, his Special Adviser on Security Matters, who doubles as the Commander of the Amotekun corps, Chief Adetunji Adeleye, assured that the the government led by Akeredolu would not temper with the Councils’ funds just as he urged them to deploy the funds for developmental projects.
The governor stated that the vehicles were bought and distributed to the local government chairmen in order to ensure smooth operations at the various councils.
He disclosed the vehicles were purchased from proceeds realized as balance payment of local government workers’ salaries and surplus from administrative budget.

Akeredolu who advised the local government Chairmen to ensure regular maintenance of the vehicles, warned against converting them for personal use.
“When you leave here, get to ODIRS, get the vehicles registered in the name of the local government. Don’t cover number plates. Any vehicle that the number is covered, Amotekun will impound it. We have discussed it at the security council. Only Governor and the Deputy Governor are allowed to do so, he said.
Earlier, the chairman, Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Ondo State chapter, and Chairman, Akoko Southwest Council, Hon. Augustine Oloruntogbe thanked the Governor for always coming to their aid in time of need.
The duo recalled that only last year, the Governor commissioned and distributed 18 units of SEM–919 Motor Graders for the usage of the 18 local governments in the state.
