The Air Force has reported that a significant number of armed bandits were neutralized during a series of coordinated air strikes executed by the Air Component of Operation FASAN YAMMA, targeting the Makakkari Forest region in Zamfara State.
This information was disclosed in a statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information for the NAF, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, on Monday from Abuja.
According to him, Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) operations had previously identified the movements of over 400 bandits who were allegedly preparing to launch an attack on local farming communities, raising concerns of imminent violence.

The operation deployed a combination of precision airstrikes alongside ground assaults, which collectively led to the elimination of several notorious bandit leaders, as well as a substantial number of their foot soldiers.
Eyewitness accounts and military reconnaissance suggest that the strikes were executed with high accuracy, mitigating any potential collateral damage and maximizing impact on the bandit group.
Air Commodore Ejodame emphasized the importance of collaboration between air and ground forces, stating, “The synergy between air and land components made the operation exceptional,” highlighting the effectiveness of integrated military tactics in combating armed banditry in the region.
