Air Peace claims safety concerns are the cause for flight cancellations and delays, and it stands by its choice to postpone or cancel flights in order to protect its passengers.
The airline made this statement through Dr. Ejike Ndiulo, the Head of Corporate Communications,on Saturday, in Lagos.
They expressed their understanding of the frustration passengers may feel due to these cancellations and delays, explaining that safety is their top priority.
He emphasized that if the weather is bad, if there are technical issues, or if any operations do not meet safety standards, they will not operate the flights.
Ndiulo stated, “It’s not our usual practice to delay or cancel flights without a good reason. When we do, it often leads to financial losses for us. We will never compromise safety for the sake of convenience, comfort, speed, or profit.”
He also thanked the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) for encouraging improvements in domestic flight operations and recognized their work in ensuring safety standards among airlines.

Ndiulo clarified that they have more planes available than what is actually used for daily flights. Therefore, any delays or cancellations are not due to a lack of aircraft. For instance, on Friday, one of their planes was damaged by a bird strike while landing in Enugu and had to be grounded for safety reasons.
This incident affected other flights that were scheduled to use the same aircraft. Ndiulo stated, “Such situations are usually beyond our control, but our main focus remains the safety of our passengers.”
He assured everyone that every decision they’ve made, whether it leads to a delay or cancellation, has always been in the interest of safety. He assured that the airline promised that if similar situations arise in the future, they will make the same choices because they are committed to putting safety first. They added, “We do not cancel flights for no reason.”
