The air force has held a training programme for senior non-commissioned officers to enhance its operational effectiveness.
This was disclosed in a statement released on official X (formally Twitter) handle of the air force on March 26, 2025.
The statement said the Air Warfare and Doctrine Centre, Abuja, launched the air power orientation course for airmen on March 24, 2025, aimed at improving the strategic understanding of airpower among senior non-commissioned officers.
This initiative, spearheaded by the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, reflects his command philosophy which emphasizes deliberate training and mission-oriented force development as vital for strengthening airpower.
According to the air chief, airmindedness is crucial for the effectiveness of an air force, providing insights into the unique challenges and opportunities of air operations.
The air power orientation course for airmen, includes high-quality instruction led by expert resource persons, including seasoned pilots with significant operational experience.

The statement also confirmed that the course, covered essential topics such as force protection, irregular warfare, legal dimensions of air operations, and leadership concepts, aimed at deepening senior non-commissioned officers’ knowledge of airpower enablers.
At the course inauguration, the Commandant of Air Warfare and Doctrine Centre, Abuja, Air Vice Marshal M.C. Ekwueme, highlighted the importance of air mindedness in developing a professional and combat-ready force.
He encouraged participants to focus on the training, emphasizing that their enhanced skills will directly impact the operational success of the air force.
Completion of the course is also a requirement for the 2025 senior non-commissioned officers’ promotion exercise, reinforcing the air force’s commitment to modernizing and adapting to evolving security challenges through airmindedness.
