The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, has emphasized the air force’s dedication to veterans welfare.
He made this promise during the 2025 mid-year chief of air staff parley with veterans, which took place on Saturday at the NAOWA Multipurpose Hall in Lagos.
Represented by AVM Ahmed Bakari, the Air Secretary, Air Marshal Abubakar stressed that taking care of veterans should always be a priority since they have served loyally for many years.
“After serving for 35 years, it’s important that we support our former personnel and their families after they retire,” he said.
He pointed out that many veterans have valuable skills that can help tackle national security issues.

“Just because they retire doesn’t mean their skills are no longer useful. They can still contribute positively to society,” he explained.
The air force chief also mentioned that the parley is a great opportunity for veterans to connect and share their thoughts and experiences.
It allows the air force to provide medical services to veterans and their families as well.
He was pleased with the good turnout of retired service members and the helpful feedback received during the event.
Abubakar encouraged veterans to stay active, work together with others, and keep strong social networks. He also reminded them to follow their medical treatments and make lifestyle choices that maintain their physical and mental health.
