The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, on Sunday commissioned 160 newly remodeled ensuite flats for airmen at the Sam Ethnan Air Force Base in Lagos.
The air force chief said the commissioning is a bold move to enhance personnel welfare and operational efficiency of the air force.
He highlighted key welfare initiatives under his leadership that have been embarked upon in recently times by the air force.
These initiatives include, a 100 percent increase in ration cash allowance in the 2025 budget, the introduction of a new group personal accident insurance policy, and distribution of new uniforms and accouterments to personnel.
Furthermore, the chief of air staff noted improvements to infrastructure and amenities, such as an upgraded electricity subsidy for Sam Etinan Base and procurement of new medical equipment for the 661 NAF Hospital in Ikeja.

Additionally, he mentioned the ongoing execution of over 470 infrastructure projects across the nation, with a substantial investment of over ₦61 billion to date.
These initiatives, according to him, underscore the air force’s commitment to enhancing personnel welfare and modernizing its facilities.
“Your service and sacrifice remain the cornerstone upon which we build a stronger and more capable air force,” Air Marshal Abubakar said.
These initiatives reflect a clear commitment to putting people first, boosting morale, strengthening unit cohesion, and building a professional, combat-ready force.
