A former Senior Special Assistant on Domestic Matters and Social Events to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Dr. Waripamo-Owei Dudafa, has formally resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Dudafa, who also served as a member of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, announced his resignation in a statement issued on Saturday in Yenagoa.
In his resignation letter addressed to the chairman of PDP, Southern Opokuma/Ayibabiri Ward 8, Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area, Dudafa said his decision followed “a period of deep reflection and consultation” with political associates, supporters, and family members.
“It is with a heavy heart that I tender my resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party effective immediately,” the letter partly read.
“Throughout my time with the party, I have been deeply committed to our shared values and goals, and it has been an honour to work with so many dedicated individuals.”

He attributed his exit to unresolved disputes within the PDP, particularly at the national level, which he said had “significantly impeded our ability to move forward and created an environment of conflict that’s no longer conducive to advancing our shared values and objectives.”
While describing his decision as “difficult but necessary,” Dudafa said he remained committed to serving the interests of the people, driven by a passion for their welfare and progress.
Announcing his defection to the ruling party, Dudafa said: “After careful reflection and consideration, I have decided to join the All Progressives Congress (APC), a platform I believe offers renewed hope, unity, and a stronger foundation to address the challenges facing our dear state.”
He expressed optimism about working with his new political family, adding: “I look forward to working alongside new colleagues who share this vision.”
Dudafa also extended appreciation to the PDP for the relationships and experiences he gained during his time in the party, wishing it success in overcoming its internal challenges.
