The prestigious Ahwo-Isoko Iconic Merit Awards and Leadership Conference 2024 is set to hold on Friday, December 20, at the Golden Jubilee Hall, Emograms Oleh, Isoko South L.G.A., Delta State. This landmark event will bring together outstanding leaders, professionals, and individuals who have demonstrated exceptional achievements in their respective fields.
According to Okolor Ben Orevaoghene, Managing Director of Icoms Ltd and the event convener, the Ahwo-Isoko Award was conceived to celebrate the remarkable contributions of Isoko people, both those living in the homeland and those in the diaspora, as well as non-Isokos residing in Isoko communities who are excelling in their careers. “This award is not only a platform to recognize excellence but also a way to inspire others to be more productive. By celebrating these achievers, we aim to encourage them to do more while motivating others to follow in their footsteps,” Ben stated.
The event will feature a distinguished lineup of speakers, with Emerhana Onoriode Paul, an accomplished professional and President of the NDDC Staff Co-operative, Investment & Credit Society Ltd, delivering the keynote address. Other notable speakers include Elder Samuel Agbagbatu, PhD; Ven. Joshua Sunday (Josemai); and Rev’d Christopher Irikefe Eneroboghene Odhe, who will share insights on leadership and innovation.

The awards ceremony will recognize several exceptional individuals for their outstanding contributions. Julius Eto, former Editor-in-Chief of The Trumpet Newspaper, will be honored as the “Exceptional Media Personality of the Year” for his impactful contributions to journalism. Hon. Jonathan Okodhiko, Member House of Representative, Isoko Federal Constituency will receive the title of “Most Effective Legislator of the Year,” while Palmer Ogheneyole will be celebrated as the “Most Active SSA of the Year” for his remarkable service.
Additionally, Obah Sylva, the Editor-in-Chief of The Trumpet Newspaper, will be recognized as the “Most Innovative Youth in Leadership Position of the Year,” reflecting his transformative impact on leadership. Engr. Stephen Ekeh will be celebrated as the “Academic Role Model” for his groundbreaking achievements in education amongst others.
The event, which kicks off at 9:00 am prompt, will be anchored by the vibrant duo of Obaro Ubara and Perfect Ighewho, promising an engaging and inspiring atmosphere.
