Chairman, South-west Governors’ Forum and Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, has warned political parties against fielding a northerner candidate in the 2023 Presidential election.

Governor Akeredolu who made this declaration while playing host to members of a group, Power Rotation Movement, led by the Chairman, Dr Pogu Bitrus, disclosed that Governors in the Southern part of the country under the auspices of the Southern Governors Forum are determined to ensure that the next President comes from the south.

He said those pushing against the power rotation in the country are tinkering with the existence of Nigeria, saying he believes in one fair and equitable Nigeria.

While commending the group for involving youths in galvanizing support and votes ahead of the 2023 election, he said meetings have been held to ensure power moves to the south, adding that any political party that ignored his advice would lose the Presidential election.

“Some of us believe in One Nigeria that’s fair and equitable. We have a reason for it and it can be defended. Some people have argued that the Presidency should be based on competence. Are they saying there are no competent ones in the south?” he said,

Arakunrin Akeredolu further disclosed that already, Governors from the south have pledged total support to whosoever emerged as candidate from the south.
