Chairman, State Social Mobilization Committee, Lamido Abba Tukur, who made this known via a press statement made available to members of the committee through the state health Educators, Mrs Mercy Maigoge, at the committee planning meeting which took place at the state secretariat on Wednesday said the campaign is designed for children less than five years.

“This campaign” as stated by him ” is aimed at increasing the immunity of children below five years of age for protection against polio virus.”

Beckoning at parents, caregivers as well as all stakeholders to allow their children less than five years of age to be vaccinated, the vaccination team, as stated by him “shall be seen moving from house to house to vaccinate eligible children with two drops of potent oral polio vaccine.”

The chairman admonished the public to make their eligible child available for the vaccination, as the vaccines are safe and free.

Apart from the aforementioned forthcoming polio outbreak response vaccination campaign, the Galarima, as noticed by our correspondent, also took his time to outline other forthcoming campaigns.

Those reeled out by him include the Maternal and Neonatal Tetanus (MNTE) or Td and Rota vaccination campaign.

Both MNTE and Td campaigns, as well as Rota vaccination campaigns, as affirmed by him are scheduled to commence on the 3rd-6th of September.

While Rota vaccination campaign will be carried out across the sixteen local government councils of the state, that of MNTE or Td, he said will be conducted in four local government councils.

The councils include; Bali, Wukari, Kurmi and Yorro, adding that the overall goal of the MNTE or Td campaign is geared toward “eliminating maternal and neonatal tetanus among women of childbearing age during their anti-natal life from the age of 15 to 49 years old

The exercises which are to be executed by the State Primary Health Care Development Agency (TSPHCDA) under the State Ministry of Health, are being supported by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and other development partners.
