Harry Kane is on course to break the Premier League goalscoring record of England legend Alan Shearer.

The Tottenham prolific striker whose brace saw off Premier League leaders in a crucial clash last week at the Etihad is 87 short of equalling the 260 Premier League goals scored by Alan Shearer from 1992 to 2006.

Kane, 28, a vital player in Tottenham’s squad looks towards attaining the record as the all-time highest goalscorer in the English Premier League but this proposition by the player may not well happen as it is believed the player hopes to ply his trade elsewhere.

The England Captain last summer was a subject of transfer for many big clubs in Europe with Manchester City having their bids rejected by the North London club who are reluctant to allow Kane to leave.

However, it is speculated that the player who is yet to win a trophy despite being prolific at scoring goals will leave Tottenham this summer to a club that can guarantee him silverware.

Meanwhile, Gabriel Agbonlahor said it would be bad for the player who has scored a such number of goals to reflect on his career and see that he has won no trophy.

He said, “I think he will break Shearer’s Premier League goalscoring record but he won’t want to look back in 15 years and won nothing.”

Agbonlahor stressed that a player of Kane’s calibre should win the Champions League and every other trophy in England.

“He is going to want to win the Premier League. A player like him should win the Champions League and everything with England.”

He added that the club have done everything to keep the player in the club and denied him of a move to Manchester City despite all the bids presented by the Premier League leaders last year.

“Even if Conte will want to keep him, I think he will want to leave this summer,” the former Aston Villa player, said.

The Tottenham manager Antonio Conte restating the importance of Harry Kane to the club said if the player has only one leg or a broken back, he would still play in the club’s matches.

“He had a blow in the back but he has to play. If he has a leg, he has to play.

“Harry knows very well the importance he has in the team for his personality, for his experience. But he is good,” he added.

The jocular Conte stated he does not force players who are injured to play matches but only tried to reflect on the importance of Kane to the team.

The Italian coach said, “Just kidding, I don’t force a player if he’s injured to play. I’m just saying to tell you how important the player is. He’s good, he’s ready.”
