Nigerian Afrobeats singer Crayon has stirred widespread speculation about his future with Mavin Records after a series of controversial posts on the social media platform X triggered intense debate among fans and industry observers.
The posts, shared late Sunday, quickly went viral and raised questions about whether the artist was expressing frustration with the label or hinting at a possible departure after several years under its management.
In one post that gained significant traction online, Crayon wrote, “Don Jazzy na my boy… Mavin is going down,” a statement that sparked strong reactions across social media. The comment drew particular attention because Don Jazzy, the founder of Mavin Records, is widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in Nigeria’s music industry.
Despite the criticism directed at the label, Crayon appeared to separate his concerns from his personal relationship with the music executive. In another post, the singer stated that he still holds affection for Don Jazzy but believes certain individuals within the label’s inner circle may be contributing to internal challenges.
The posts also hinted at a possible shift in the singer’s career direction. In a separate message, Crayon referenced a new venture with the words “Olodum Entertainment. New era,” prompting speculation among fans that he may be preparing to launch his own imprint or pursue a more independent path within the music industry.

Further fueling the rumours is his recently released track Baami, which observers say carries branding linked to the new imprint mentioned in his posts. The development has led many fans to interpret the release as a possible signal of a transition away from Mavin Records.
Crayon joined Mavin Records in 2019 through its Blowtime Entertainment division and has since built a strong presence within the Afrobeats scene. During his time with the label, he released several popular songs and collaborated with fellow label artist Rema and other members of the Mavin roster.
As of the time of this report, neither Don Jazzy nor Mavin Records has issued an official response to the viral posts. Crayon has also not clarified whether his comments reflect an internal dispute, a misunderstanding, or a confirmed plan to leave the label.
The situation continues to attract attention across Nigeria’s music community, with fans closely watching for any official statement that could determine whether the singer is set to remain with Mavin Records or begin a new chapter in his career.
