Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike Ikwo,(AE-FUNAI), Ebonyi State has announced the launch of the institute for future skills and innovation, a new interdisciplinary academic and innovation hub designed to prepare students and professionals for emerging sectors of the global digital economy.
The new institute, according to the Executive Director, Prof. Chinedu Ekuma, was developed in partnership with the African Skills and Innovation Network (ASIN) to offer programmes in artificial intelligence, fintech, cybersecurity, digital business, entrepreneurship, and agritech through a technology-enabled learning model.
Prof. Ekuma explained that the institute is s designed to combine academic programmes, applied research, and professional training to equip learners with the knowledge, practical skills, and innovative mindset needed in rapidly evolving digital and innovation-driven world.
He added that the institute will operate through a modern digital-first learning model supported by an advanced learning management system and global faculty collaboration.

“Through this approach, students will engage with instructors, researchers, and industry experts from across Nigeria and around the world,” he added.
Vice-Chancellor of AE-FUNAI, Prof. Daniel Nwachukwu, remarked that the establishment of the institute reflects the university’s commitment to preparing students for the realities of the modern global economy.
“The world of work is changing at an unprecedented pace, and universities must evolve to prepare graduates for new industries driven by digital technologies and innovation,” said Professor Nwachukwu.
“The institute for future skills and innovation positions AE-FUNAI to equip students with the skills, creativity, and entrepreneurial mindset required to lead in the digital economy.”
He added that the launch aligns with AE-FUNAI’s broader institutional vision of becoming a world-class centre of learning, research, and innovation, and of building an ecosystem of researchers, entrepreneurs, and technology leaders.
