Adamawa State is to expend N14 billion on the construction of an international conference centre, the upgrade of the college of agricultural science and other infrastructural projects across the state to enhance service delivery.
This was disclosed by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. James Iliya, while briefing journalists at the Government House, Yola, shortly after the State Executive Council meeting.
The commissioner said the funds will also support rural access and agricultural marketing projects, including the revival of previously abandoned initiatives across the state.
He clarified that the huge expenditure does not constitute a supplementary budget.
The commissioner further disclosed that the council approved the engagement of consultants for pre- and post-contract services related to the remodeling and redevelopment of staff quarters at the Specialist Hospital, Yola.
In response to recent weather forecasts from the Nigerian Meteorological Agency, Mr. Iliya announced the state government’s plan to launch an awareness campaign on climate-related challenges in anticipation of the 2025 weather conditions.
Also, the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Emmanuel Predimso, noted that the approved budget amendment and virement would accommodate new critical projects aimed at boosting development across the state.

Also speaking, Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Chief Felix, revealed that kidney dialysis centers at the Adamawa State Specialist Hospital in Yola and the General Hospital in Numan have commenced free operations to the public.
He urged residents to stay hydrated as part of preventive health measures.
On environmental matters, the Commissioner for Environment, Mohammed Sadiq, reported that 14 local government areas in the state were impacted by drought and flooding in the previous year.
He announced that the council has set up a committee to investigate and propose solutions to mitigate the effects of climate change, with a report expected within one week.
