The Adamawa State Police Command has apprehended two individuals suspected of issuing fake appointment letters to job seekers.
The suspects, identified as Muhammed Attahir, 31, and Abdulrahman Ahmad, 23, are currently in custody in Yola, the state capital.
According to a statement released by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Nguroje, the suspects were nabbed for allegedly providing counterfeit appointment letters from the State Primary Health Care Development Agency (ADSPHCDA) to unsuspecting applicants.
Both suspects, residents of Rabe Street in Bako ward, Yola South local government council, have reportedly confessed to the crime.
Recovered items, according to the statement, include a laptop, a thumb printing machine, and four fake appointment letters.
The arrest followed a report from a staff member of the ADSPHCDA, who informed the police of individuals impersonating the agency and extorting money from citizens in exchange for fake employment letters. The agency’s chairman also alerted the police about the fraudulent activities.
