Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has approved the reopening of Sa’adatu College of Health Technology, Mubi, after the institution met the standards set by the Committee on the Establishment of Private Colleges of Health Technology.

Additionally, eight other institutions have been given a six to 12-month deadline to upgrade their facilities, improve staffing levels, and secure proper accreditation before they will be allowed to resume operations.

These colleges include the Savannah College of Health Science and Technology, Yola, Central College of Health Science and Technology, Yola, and the School of Health Technology, Jimeta.

Others are the NAFAN College of Health Science and Technology, Jimeta, School of Health Technology, Mayo Belwa, Humanity College of Health Science and Technology, Hong, Abubakar Isa Ahmadu College of Health Science and Technology, Mubi, and EYN Brethren College of Health Technology, Garkida

Meanwhile, five institutions that failed to meet the minimum operational standards will remain closed.

The colleges are located in Yola, Guyuk, Shelleng, Demsa, Ganye, Michika, Song, Numan, and Gombi.

Gov. Fintiri urged the affected schools to implement the committee’s recommendations to ensure that quality and standards are maintained in the training of health workers in the state.

He also directed the state Ministry of Health and Human Services to conduct a comprehensive final assessment before granting reopening approval to any of the colleges.

“Our goal is to ensure that only institutions that meet required standards operate in Adamawa State. This is crucial for the delivery of quality healthcare education and services,” Gov. Fintiri said.

The directive, according to the governor, is part of the state government’s broader effort to strengthen healthcare training and service delivery in Adamawa State.
