Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri used this year’s Eid al-Fitr celebration in Gulak to call on citizens to support ongoing security efforts and embrace collective responsibility for peace in northeastern Nigeria.
Joining Muslim faithful for the traditional two raka’at Eid prayer, Fintiri combined spiritual reflection with a public demonstration of unity at the close of Ramadan. Speaking to attendees, he stressed that lasting stability requires the active participation of communities alongside government and security agencies.
The governor commended the Nigerian Armed Forces for their continued sacrifices in defending the country and credited local resilience and coordinated efforts for the recent improvements in Madagali, a former insurgent stronghold now experiencing relative calm.

Fintiri emphasized grassroots vigilance, urging residents to provide credible information to security forces and remain alert to potential threats. Analysts note that this community-driven approach is increasingly vital in countering insurgency and asymmetric attacks, where timely local intelligence can be decisive.
The Eid celebrations also showcased cultural pride, featuring a symbolic horse-riding procession—a northern tradition that highlighted both heritage and a narrative of regional recovery.
Governor Fintiri’s message underscored a central theme: security is no longer solely a military mission but a shared responsibility. For residents of Gulak and surrounding areas, the festivities offered both a celebration of faith and a reaffirmation that peace, while delicate, is steadily taking root in Adamawa State.
