A 29-year-old forest guard named Sunday Markus has been placed in custody after allegedly stabbing 25-year-old Isa Hamadu to death.
Markus was remanded at a correctional facility by Chief Magistrate Court I in Yola Thursday, the capital of Adamawa State, under the direction of Magistrate Lawan Musa.
The defendant, who is from the Pallam community in Madagali Local Government Area, was brought before the court by the Adamawa State Police Command.
During the arraignment, prosecuting officer Inspector Hamza Abdullahi informed the court that Markus was arrested on January 2, 2026.

He allegedly stabbed Isa Hamadu in the stomach, and the victim was pronounced dead by a doctor at the cottage hospital in Madagali after being rushed there for treatment.
Upon reading the First Information Report presented by the prosecutor, Markus pleaded guilty to the charges.
Following this, the prosecutor requested an adjournment to allow time for the case file to be sent to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions for legal advice, given the serious nature of the offense.
Magistrate Lawan approved the request and ordered the defendant to remain in custody.
