In response to the escalating violence between herders and farmers in the Waltandi area of Song Local Government, Adamawa State, Police Commissioner Dankombo Morris has ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to lead a full investigation. This directive comes after a deadly confrontation erupted early Sunday morning, leading to multiple fatalities and extensive property destruction.
Expressing his condolences to affected families, Commissioner Morris assured the community that authorities are intensifying efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice. “All necessary measures are being taken to ensure the safety of residents and prevent further violence,” he stated. Additional police forces have already been deployed to the area to stabilize the situation and restore calm.

The clash reportedly originated in the Kukta district of Waltandi, sparking as tensions between herders and farmers over land use and resources boiled over. According to community sources, skirmishes began days prior, resulting in the deaths of both a farmer and a herdsman, eventually escalating into a full-scale conflict that left many residents fleeing to nearby villages.
Local residents are calling on authorities to leave no stone unturned in holding those responsible accountable. They’re also urging the government to provide immediate relief to the displaced, as families reel from the devastating impact of the attack.
