The Adamawa State Executive Council has approved a series of multimillion-naira contracts totaling more than ₦23 billion for key infrastructure projects across the state.
The approvals, observed our correspondent, were granted during the council’s meeting on Wednesday, presided over by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri at the Government House, Yola.
Briefing journalists after the meeting, the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Umar Garba Pella, said the projects are aimed at accelerating infrastructure development and supporting ongoing urban renewal initiatives in various local government areas.
According to Dr. Pella, the council approved the construction, rehabilitation, and expansion of major roads in Jimeta, Yola North Local Government Area. The roads include Abdullahi Bashir Waziri Street, Bekaji Road, Popule Street and its links, as well as internal roads within GGSS Yola. The total cost of these road projects is ₦13 billion.
He further disclosed that the council approved additional works at the ongoing Jimeta Utral-Modern shopping mall project, covering road networks, drainage systems, landscaping, and the installation of solar-powered streetlights, valued at N5.6 billion.
Also approved was phase two of the state internation sports complex project, which has been divided into five lots and awarded at N3.6 billiion. Dr. Pella noted that work on the first phase of the project is progressing well and nearing completion.

In a related development, the council, according to the commissioner, endorsed the procurement and installation of solar powered streetlights along key routes in Yola — Galadima Aminu Way, Gimba Dual Carriageway, Bekaji Dual Carriageway, Mubi Road, and the A.A. Lawan Flyover at a total cost of N2.3 billion.
The council, as further stated by him, also approved consultancy services for the design and post-design of perimeter fences and gatehouses at the palaces of newly created chiefdoms, as well as the construction if Adamawa stage traditional rulers secretariat complex, valued at N212 million.
Additionally, another consultancy contract worth N133 million, was also said to have been approved for the design and post-design of new office facilities for the Adamawa stage urban and regional.plamninv development authority and the state post primary school management board.
Dr. Pella emphasized that the approvals underscore the Fintiri administration’s unwavering commitment to improving infrastructure, enhancing urban aesthetics, and promoting socioeconomic growth across Adamawa State.
