Adamawa State has taken a bold step to transform its livestock sector by supporting over 23,000 farmers with vital inputs and equipment aimed at boosting productivity and fostering economic growth. The initiative was launched in Yola, the state capital, by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, who reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to creating jobs and ensuring peaceful coexistence between herders and farmers.
The project, part of the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support (L-PRES) program, introduced a wide range of tools and resources to enhance livestock management. Beneficiaries received crushing machines, chopper machines, mineral licks, de-wormers, molasses, and milking cans, all essential for modernizing the livestock industry in the state.
Dr. Alfa Sacondee, the State Coordinator of L-PRES, praised the initiative as a game-changer for Adamawa’s livestock sector. He highlighted its success in creating job opportunities for thousands of young people, describing the program as a cornerstone of Governor Fintiri’s administration.
Tijanni Atiku, Commissioner for Livestock and Aquaculture Development, emphasized the government’s collaboration with the World Bank in executing the L-PRES program. He noted its transformative impact on the sector and the administration’s commitment to ensuring its success.

Sanusi Abubakar, the National Coordinator of L-PRES, commended Adamawa State for its outstanding performance among the 20 states participating in the program. He applauded the state’s effective implementation of action plans and livestock development projects, positioning Adamawa as a leader in livestock transformation.
Representing Governor Fintiri, Chief of Staff Dr. Edgar Amos reiterated the administration’s full support for the L-PRES initiative and the National Livestock Transformation Plan. He urged farmers and herders to embrace peaceful coexistence, stressing the mutual benefits of cooperation in building a sustainable agricultural future.
Traditional rulers, pastoralists, and stakeholders expressed their gratitude for the program during the launch event, delivering goodwill messages that underscored the positive impact of the initiative.
