A High Court in Yola, Adamawa State, has granted bail to Alhaji Husseini Nakura, the Chairman of the Concerned Citizens of Adamawa State.

The court also annulled the proceedings of the Chief Magistrate Court II, led by M. A. Adamu, which had ordered Nakura’s detention since September 10, 2025.

Justice Christopher Mapeo presided over the high court and issued the bail ruling on Friday.

Additionally, the court ordered that the case be transferred from the Chief Magistrate Court II to Upper Area Court II in Yola, for further proceedings.

Justice Mapeo set the bail amount at N5 million and required that Nakura provide a trustworthy surety who must reside in Yola and be a person of good character.

In an earlier ruling, the court rejected the preliminary objection raised by the registrar of the Chief Magistrate Court II and the state commissioner of police, stating that their claims lacked merit.

Justice Mapeo emphasized that the charges are bailable since they are not capital offenses, and that the prosecution failed to present evidence that Nakura would flee if granted bail.

He criticized the lower court’s condition that only one person could serve as surety, deeming it unfair, and dismissed the entire proceedings.

Following the ruling, both the applicant’s Counsel, E. O. Odo, and the respondents’ counsel, D. I. Kulthu, expressed their gratitude to the court for its decision.
