The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Adamawa Chapter, and the Muslim Council Adamawa have commended the Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Bathiya Wesley, for initiatives aimed at strengthening religious unity in the state.
The commendation followed a joint Ramadan Iftar and Lenten gathering organised by the Assembly, which brought together serving and former lawmakers, staff and members of the public in a show of interfaith cooperation.
The event, held within the Assembly complex, provided an opportunity for Christians and Muslims to share meals, prayers and dialogue, reinforcing the spirit of peaceful coexistence in Adamawa State.

Representatives of CAN and the Muslim Council described the programme as timely, stressing that interfaith collaboration plays a key role in deepening understanding and reducing tensions in a diverse society.
They added that initiatives of this nature help build trust among religious groups and strengthen social cohesion, particularly at a time when unity remains essential for development.
The joint Iftar and Lenten event forms part of the Assembly’s broader efforts to promote dialogue, encourage tolerance and reinforce harmony among faith communities in the state.
